Brent Jamison Batiste entered this world on January 5, 1993 as a beautiful curly-haired baby boy at the River
West Medical Center in Plaquemine, LA. He was the first born of Monteryl D. Batiste and Jeffrey D. Givens Sr.
Brent was christened into the Catholic faith as an infant at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Maringouin, Louisiana.
Brent was educated in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District. He was a 2011 graduate of Baton Rouge
Magnet High School. Brent furthered his education at Southern University and A&M in Baton Rouge, earning a
Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2016.
Brent was a kindhearted son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. Spending time with his family and friends was
the highlight of his life. Brent loved to cook and bake. His famous brownies were a hit among his family and
friends. Brent enjoyed shopping, traveling, playing video games, and watching his favorite television shows.
Brent was always the life of the party. He was a diehard Southern Jaguar. He refused to miss a football game. On
a Saturday during football season, Brent could be found celebrating, whether on "The Bluff" or on the "road."
He was truly "Jaguar" proud.
Brent chose to enter the field of education to make a positive impact on the lives of Baton Rouge's youth. He
most recently completed his first year as a Science teacher at Scotlandville Pre-Engineering Magnet Academy
(SPEMA). Brent captured the attention of his students with his sense of humor and brilliance. The students at
SPEMA truly loved "Mr. B."
Brent transcended time and soared into eternity on the morning of May 31, 2018.

John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
