Charles L. Smith Sr. was born in Baton Rouge, La. to the union of the late Norris Smith Sr. and Rosa White Smith on July 7, 1932. Brother Smith was baptized by the late Reverend N. C. Chinn. He attended school at Leland College. He retired as a Construction Labor Foreman for Volks Constructors. He was a veteran and served in the United States Army. He served in the Labor Local Union #1177.
To the union of his marriage four children were born. He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, Charles L. Smith Jr. (Lisa), Ewell B. Smith (Cheryl), Marvin Ray Smith, Sr. (Pamela) all of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren: Chasity Smith, Brandy Smith, Marvin R. Smith Jr., Hayden Smith, and Jordan Smith; two brothers, Norris Smith, Jr. (Ethel), and Kenneth Smith both of Baton Rouge; four sisters, Gaye Nelle Young (Larry) of Young Bay City, Tx.. Helen Williams, Janie Smith both of Baton Rouge. Deborah Johnson (Samuel) of Ethel, La., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Charles L. Smith Sr.is preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia L. Smith;parents, Norris and Rosa Smith; six brothers, John, Willie, Nathaniel, Wendell, Roosevelt, James Smith, and two sisters, Clara Foster and Doretha Smith.
