Corey E. Harris, Sr., 43, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at home, in Portland, Maine. A native of Marrero, LA. Corey was the beloved son of Irene Section Green (Oliver Turner) and step-son of August Green. He attended John Ehret High School where he graduated in 1994 and pursued a career with the United States Navy.
Corey was known for his happy-go-lucky approach and ability to make friends of strangers. He loved his children and family and was a big fan of the Saints.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughters; Khadijah A. Harris, and step-daughter; Shavonnda N. Edgerton, son; Corey E. Harris, Jr., former wife; Tara Edgerton and devoted friend Melanie McInnis. Corey was the big brother to Clara and Shinta Scott, Jamaal Green, and Dawn Harris. Corey was the maternal grandson of; Gus Sextion, Sr., several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Waiting for him in Heaven was his dad; Shedrick Harris, paternal grandmother; Lillie Mae Harris, paternal grandfather; maternal grandmother; Bessie Sextion and several aunts and uncles.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their out pouring of love, kindness and support as well as invite pastors, officers and members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches, Jeff. C.A.P. Employees, Jefferson Parish School Board Employees, State of Louisiana Employees, VOA Employees, A&M Construction Services, Inteletravel Agency and Jackson Hewitt Employees to celebrate Corey's home going.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 8 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (1419 Fourth Street, Westwego, LA) at 10:00 AM. Pastor Woodrow Hayden and Rev. Dr. Charlie Washington will be officiating and there will be a private interment later.
