Donald Warren Fort, age 67, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA.
Brother Donald Fort was born on June 4, 1950 in New Orleans, LA to the late Lucille Wright-Fort and Richard Fort, Jr. He was raised in Baton Rouge, LA, where he attended Capitol Senior High School, Donald was united in marriage with Gerald G. Fort in 1978 for twenty-three years. Of their Union, three children were born.
Donald was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, brother and companion. He was truly a man of integrity and faith, with a passion for people. Donald dedicated his life to serving others. During his life, Donald co-founded a non-profit organization entitled Project R.I.D.E (Riding into Deep Entertainment) in 1984, where he used horses to help build and cultivate mentoring relationships for youth in the community. Donald worked as a Foreman Carpenter for over thirty years at Earl K. Long Hospital of Baton Rouge, LA before retiring in 2015. In 1996, he became the owner and founder of Fort Maintenance and Janitorial. Donald later served on the board for the Baton Rouge Chapter of the NAACP. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going on fishing excursions, riding and training horses, reading, and helping others. Donald found wise counsel and fellowship at United Christian Faith Ministries of Baton Rouge, LA.
