A ceremony celebrating the life of Ms. Dorothy Jean Sylvain will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Nathaniel Bell and the Reverend Jerome Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Winnfield Funeral Home of Baton Rouge, 7221 Plank Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70811 Dorothy Jean Sylvain, a beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away on May 7, 2014 in her residence at the age of 60. Dorothy was born on August 17, 1953 to the union of Hamilton Sylvain, Sr. and Gertrude Thomas Sylvain in Pineville, LA. Dorothy received her formal education through the Rapides Parish School System. Dorothy was baptized at an early age and accepted Christ as her Savior. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters, and brothers. Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Hamilton Sylvain, Sr. and mother, Gertrude Thomas Sylvain. Dorothy made her heavenly transition into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ after her victorious 5 year battle with cancer.
