"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." ~ II Corinthians 5:1 Frankie Lee Griffin was born, as the fourth of ten children, on October 24, 1952, to the union of the late Albert Griffin and Pearllena W. Griffin. After He departed this life on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Our Lady of the Lake surrounded by dear friends and loved ones. Frankie was baptized at an early age by the late Rev J.R. Lewis of Rock Zion Baptist Church. Brother Frankie Griffin was a graduate of Capital Senior High School, class of 1971. He loved sports, especially wrestling, and loved to ride in his classic maroon and white 1977 Cutlass Supreme. Brother Frankie Griffin was a faithful husband, friend, and servant of God. In the early 1980's he served as co-owner of a printing business called Ridgeways. This was one of the first black owned printing businesses in Baton Rouge. Later in his career, he joined Baton Rouge Blueprint and served as a blueprint operator until he retired in 2016. Brother Frankie Griffin leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted and loving wife of 33 years, Karen A. Griffin; three sons, Christopher Avery (Natalie), Ejerald Avery, and Brandon Avery (Simone); 15 grandchildren; three brothers, Larry Griffin (Delores), John Griffin (Ruby), both of Baton Rouge, La, and David Griffin of New Orleans, La; three sisters, Martha Penn (Alvin) Daisy Griffin, both of Baton Rouge, La, and Veronica Gray of Prairieville, La; a sister-in-law, Mamie Gooden (Henry) of Baker, La, and brother-in laws, Larry Avery and Patrick Avery, both of Baton Rouge, La; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Brother Frankie Griffin was preceded in death by his great grandparents Marshall and Ethel Caston Taplin; grandparents, June and Lille M. White; parents, Albert and Pearllena W. Griffin; one brother, Albert Griffin Jr.; two sisters, Lille Griffin-Jones, Thelma M. Battley; and one nephew, Larry "Lil Larry" Griffin.
