Obituary

Always ready to lend a helping hand, Fred Douglas Scott was born on March 10, 1945 in Woodville, Mississippi. He was the fourth child of nine children born to Willard and Babers Scott. Many beautiful childhood memories were made with his siblings: Jessie, Beatrice, Percy, Shirley, Mildred, Charles, Ella and Larry. Fred attended schools in the East Baton Rouge School System and he was a graduate of Capitol High School. As a young man, Fred gave his life to Christ and was baptized by Reverend Robert Sullivan at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Fred met the love of his life, Laura Jean Eaglin, in 1965 and they were married in 1968. The Scotts were blessed with three beautiful children: Tanya, Monica and Kendrick. The Scotts raised their family in Baker, Louisiana where they were active in the community and their churches. Fred was a faithful member of Greater New Guide Baptist Church. He served on Usher Board #1 and was a member of Sunday School Class #6. Going to church was one of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed every aspect of church from the message to the music to fellowshipping with his church members. Fred will be dearly missed by his wife; Laura Scott, his daughters and son in laws; Tanya & Michael Lolis and Monica & Chad Guillory, his son; Kendrick Scott, his grandchildren; Lakaila & Jared Brown, Morgan & Eric Ferguson, Trey Smith, Jay Toussant, MiShawn Lolis, Jaelah Lolis, Lance Scott and Kennedy Scott, three great grandchildren; Jaden Brown, Mason Ferguson and Ava Brown, three sisters; Shirley Buckles (Fate), Mildred Webster (Tilfert) and Ella Moore (Norris); one brother; Larry Scott; his godchildren; Dwayne Arceneaux, Melvin Briscoe, Christopher Pruitt, and Rudy Richard along with a host of family and friends. The viewing will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 4:00 PM 7:00 PM at Winnfield Funeral Home in Baton Rouge and again on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Greater New Guide Baptist Church.
