Interment Will Be In The Southern Memorial Gardens Gussie Ellis Sr., a Retired Lt. of the Baton Rouge Police Department, he passed away at 4 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at his residence. He was 72, a native of Innis and a U.S. Army Veteran. He is survived by Patrica Smith a loving devoted Special friend; sons, Stephen and Kimm Ellis and Kelvin and Letha Ellis of Baton Rouge, La; Godson, Garner Moman BR. La.; sister, Jerry Ellis Baton Rouge, La; Sisters-in-law, Inez and Clayton Jones and Martha White; ten grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Albertha and Nelson Jr.; Brothers, Nelson Ellis Jr. and William White; Sister, Ruthie M. Ellis White; Wife, Alice M. Harris Ellis; Daughter, Yolanda M. Ellis Williams; and Son, Gussie Ellis Jr. Pallbearers are John Mims, Charles Crump, Gregory Moman, Calvin White, Stephen Ellis and Kelvin Ellis. Honorary Pallbearers are Judge Timothy Kelly, Chief Jeff LeDuff, Clayton Jones, Garner Moman, Nikita Long and Ronald Stevens. He was a Member of the Magnolia Peace Association.
