Obituary

Obituary "I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 Isreal, affectionately known as "D-man" was born on December 1, 1938 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the union of Sidney and Leola Duncan. He was the 2nd oldest of nine children. On Sunday, September 30, 2018, D-man accepted the call of his Heavenly Father to his eternal resting place. He left this earthly world peacefully at his home, surrounded by his adoring children. Though he had no formal education, he was a very smart, savvy, intelligent and wise man. He worked at Cloy Construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years; later he went to work at Rollins Landfill where he retired in 2007. He was united in holy matrimony to Willie Beatrice Holliday Duncan on September 28, 1958. To that union they had 5 children but he had 6 children in total. Isreal accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Chinn at Beech Grove Baptist Church. Isreal was a very loving person and would do anything for anyone at a phone call's notice. His former hobbies included fishing, hunting and watching TV sitcoms, with Sanford and Son as one of his favorites. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting outside under his carport visiting with friends and neighbors and taking short drives with his sons. He also had a passion for family gatherings and always wanted all of his family and friends over. He had very close relationships with Deon Brown, Kerry (Gus) Jackson and Thomas (Reb) Davis. These guys would check on him daily and do any and everything for him. Although they argued a lot and he ran them away from his house often, they were back being best friends within minutes. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 60 years, Wilie Beatrice Holliday Duncan, parents Sidney & Leola Duncan, sister, Alpha Jo Edwards, brothers, Leroy Duncan, Sr., Sidney Duncan, and Wille Duncan, Grandson Darius Billoups, and other uncles, aunts and cousins. Isreal leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his 4 daughters, Pamela D. Williams (Bruce), Rhonda D. Billoups (Felton), and Monica J.
