Sis. Jacqueline Brown Stewart was born December 9, 1954 to Mable Brown Washington and Jack Phillips, Jr. After being a three-time cancer survivor, she departed this life peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Ochsner Medical Center of Baton Rouge.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Jackie or "Lovie," as she was affectionally called, was known for her meticulous sewing skills and cooking. She was also known for her beautiful alto singing voice, as she used it to sing solos, lead songs, and participate in school and church groups throughout her earthly life.
Jackie worked with the LSU Cooperative Extension Service in her earlier years; and later worked for many years at Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge as an emergency room clerk until she retired.
Jackie, along with her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Alphonse Stewart, Sr., worked tirelessly to build a strong legacy together. She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Patrick B. Muhammad (wife Lydia R. Muhammad) and Alphonse Stewart, Jr. (wife Krystal Sugulleh Stewart); two daughters; Crystal Rena Stewart and Tracy Inez Stewart; three grandsons; Christopher Stewart Brumfield, Malakhi A. Muhummad, and Alphonse Stewart III; two granddaughters Ariel C. Delmore and Genesis H-P Muhummad; two godchildren, William Armstrong III and Erika Michell Haynes; six brothers, Arthur James Brown, Danny Emile Brown, Darryl Phillips, Michael Phillips, Keith Phillips, and Kelvin Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
