On Saturday, December 29, 2018, Jean Chenevert Roan took her final breath and moved forward to a far more exceeding glory. Born on December 16, 1949 to the union of Howard Chenevert, Sr. and Audrey Baker, Jean was the fourth of seven children. Jean had a love and a passion for life. She worked hard and received her Master's in Social Work at Louisiana State University. Upon completing her degree, Jean went to work for the State of Louisiana. After 31 years of dedicated service, Jean retired as the Director of Treatment and Rehabilitation Services for the Office of Youth Development. After retiring, Jean filled her days serving her family, her church and her community. She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic, serving during mass and visiting the home bound members to pray or bring holy communion. Jean was also an officer with her neighborhood association and a weekly volunteer at Cancer Services. Jean had a great and deep love for her family. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Maurice A. Roan, Sr; her son Maurice A. Roan, Jr and his wife Shadelia T. Roan; her daughter Angela K. Roan; her two grandsons, Johnathan Q. Roan and Easton R. Roan; and her granddaughter Ahmi O. Roan. Jean is also survived by her sisters, her twin Ann Franklin; Faye Boyd; and Audrey V. Chenevert; as well as a host of in-laws, godchildren, nieces, and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her son, Quentin J. Roan; her parents, Audrey Chenevert and Howard Chenevert Sr; her bothers Howard Chenevert Jr., Wickey Chenevert Sr., and Arthur Chenevert; her father in law Albert Roan; her brother in law Winford Roan; her nephews Winford Roan Jr. and D'Andre Smith; and her niece Aubrey Artist. With a smile, dedication, and hard drive; Jean shared her light with everyone she encountered. She showed us what it meant to want more and work hard to achieve your goals. She loved deeply and was deeply loved in returned. Her light lives on in the lives of everyone who was blessed to know her.
