John Edward Stokes "Hoopie" passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the age of 56. Hoopie was a native and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA. He enjoyed sports, cooking and most of all being with family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Stokes, Sr. and Lirty Mae Coates Stokes.
He is survived by his daughter, LaTigre Huggins (Brandon Sr.) of Wellington, FL.; sisters, Emma S. Walker of Arlington, TX, Ella S. Powell (Leon, Jr.) of Baton Rouge, LA; brothers, James Stokes, Jr. (Jeaninne) of Arlington, TX, Anthony Tyrone Stokes (Pamela) of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Brandon Jarell Huggins, Jr., Kianna Huggins and Braxton Huggins all of Wellington, FL.
Family and friends of Hoopie are invited to attend the Visitation on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at Winnfield Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 9am-10:45am at GREATER BEACH GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH. Funeral Services will begin at 11am. Interment: Winnfield Memorial Park.
