On Sunday, December 13, 2020, at 2:35am the Lord called his servant, Joseph Jackson Jr., home for his eternal rest. Joe was born on June 24, 1955 in New Orleans, La. to the late Joseph & Gussie Jackson. He graduated from White Castle High in 1973. He attended Plaquemine Vocational/Technical school, where he received a degree in Welding. Even though his degree was in welding, his passion was working on cars as a mechanic.
He entered into holy matrimony to Carolyn Denham Jackson on January 20, 1983 and to this union three sons were born, Roderick, Marcus & Keldrick Jackson. Joe accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. J.H. Dandridge at St. John The Baptist Church in Dorseyville, Louisiana. He served diligently for many years as a church officer in the capacity of Head Deacon. He worked at Midas for over 40 years, he was a certified brake specialist, but could work on anything for any model car. Even after his retirement, he never stop working on cars. He also was the family crawfish boiler and Turkey fryer.
Joe leaves to cherish his precious memories to his wife of 37 years, Carolyn D. Jackson three sons and daughters-in-law Roderick(Montrece) Jackson of Denham Springs, LA., Marcus(Susan) Jackson and Keldrick(Toniequa) Jackson all of Baton Rouge, LA. Eight grandchildren: Marcus, Jr, Morgan, Khamani, Kyree, MhiLee, Madisyn, Kylee, and Kannon. Two sisters and brothers-in-law: Regina(Alcede) Magitt and Erica(Bryan) Grigsby Sr. Special cousins, whom he was reared with Gloria Wilkerson (Brooklyn, NY), Lois (Warren) Taylor, of White Castle, La. Lionel (Antionette) Richard, Pamela(Joseph) Cavalier, Jennifer(Freddie) Jackson all of Baton Rouge, LA. Five God-children: Jasmine B, of Dorseyville La. Kandrea G of Canton, MS., Sherette J(niece), Amanda R and Shameeka H(niece) of Baton Rouge, La, Seven nieces and nephews: Gerald, Jr, Sherette, Letisha(Willie), Deidra(Chandler), Jasmine, Shameeka(Kenny) & Bryan Jr. One aunt: Ester Powell of El Paso, Tx. Two uncles: LC(Juanita) Ray of Convent, La. Leroy(Geraldine) Ray of Indianapolis, IN. two sisters-in-law Odeal Jackson and Toni(Nelson) Tyler, five brothers-in-law: Gary, Donald Ray(Donna), Terry, Kelvin, Sidney(Vivian). Seven great nieces, four great nephews four devoted friends Kevin (cousin), Sedric, Michael(Slim) and Donald. A host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Gussie Jackson; Two brothers Bennie R. Jackson & Rev. Gerald Jackson; one cousin/sister, Debra Rogers. Paternal grandparents Alexander & Mary R. Jackson; Maternal grandparents Gustavia & Charlie Richard. Six aunts Leona, Irma, Shirley, Cethel, Willie Mae, & Dorothy; four uncles Roosevelt, Alexander Jr, Edward, one nephew Alcee Magitt, Jr.; two nieces-in-law Ashley & Brandi Denham; mother-in- law, Ethel Denham; one brother-in-law, Larry Denham; three sisters-in- law Patricia, Trina & Patricia Denham.
