IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Stewart
Buckley
November 6, 1947 – December 2, 2025
Larry Buckley was born on November 6, 1947, in Osyka, Mississippi, to the late Arcell and Stella Buckley. He was the youngest of eleven siblings.
Larry departed this earthly life on December 2, 2025. He was raised in Mt. Herman and later moved to Baton Rouge as a teenager, where he attended Capitol High School until his 10th-grade year. He then relocated to San Diego, California, to care for an older brother and graduated from San Diego High School. Larry was drafted into the United States Army, where he bravely served in the Vietnam War and became a proud veteran. After completing his military service, he resided in San Diego before moving to Houston, Texas, where he lived for over 30 years. In 2013, Larry returned home to Baton Rouge.
Larry was jovial, upbeat, and incredibly witty. A conversation with him always left you with wisdom, laughter, or both. If he saw you doing something he felt wasn’t right, he would immediately let you know you were “blanking up”—and he meant it with love.
Larry leaves to cherish his love and legacy two daughters, Jacqueline Wright (Darryl) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Leotyne Watters (Durce Sr.) of Aberdeen, Maryland; one son, Koveria Williams (Tangela) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
He also leaves to cherish his memory one surviving sibling, Maytee Buckley.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Arcell and Stella Buckley; his son, Joseph English; his granddaughter, Jermica Irving; three sisters, Undean Buckley Reed, Martha Lee Buckley Shepherd, and Dorothy Buckley Domingue; and seven brothers, Rev. Earl Buckley, Edward Buckley, Preston Buckley, Milton Buckley, Lawyer Buckley, Raymond Buckley, and Alton Buckley.
