Lela Patin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on October 4, 2025. She was born to Edward & Beatrice Davis on September 23, 1956. The family asks that you keep them in your prayers at this time.

Lela Mae Patin was a native of Slaughter, Louisiana, and a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born on September 23, 1956, in Slaughter, Louisiana, to Edward Lee Davis and Beatrice Turner-Davis. She departed this life on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Clarity Hospice (The Crossing) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Lela Mae was married to the late Melvin Patin, Sr. To this union, three beautiful children were born. She was baptized at an early age, and she was a member of Greater Philadelphia. Once married, she joined Mt. Zion (the late Rev. Pierce) and later joined New Prospect Baptist Church under the late Rev. Dan Alexander, Sr. She attended Chaneyville High School, where she was a three-sport athlete: basketball, softball, and track. Lela was an awesome cook and a very fashionable lady who loved to dress. She enjoyed spending time with her family. The love for her children and grandchildren was unmatched. She was also a die-hard New Orleans Saints Fan.

Lela leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Lisa (Micheal) Hart, Katy, Texas and Lonita (Marvin) Smith, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one son Melvin (Kristin) Patin, Slaughter, Louisiana; one sister, Aggie Davis, Slaughter, Louisiana; four brothers: Rickey (Lorraine) Davis, Hermon Davis, Gary Lynn Davis, and Jefferey Davis, all of Slaughter, Louisiana; one aunt, Ruth Kleinpeter; four grandsons: Briley Reed, Jr., Travis Williams, Melvin Patin III, and D'Andre Patin; four granddaughters: LaKeshia Reed, Allyssa Smith, India Patin, and Asia Patin; eight great-grandchildren; and a hosts of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Patin, Sr.; parents, Edward and Beatrice Davis; two brothers, Robert Lee Davis and Henry Turner; three aunts: Mable Parker, Helen Langley, and Ethel Lee Parker; four uncles: Johnny L. Turner, Moses Turner, Jessie Turner, and Herman Turner.
