Leon Lee Dugas
Leon Lee Dugas was a beloved brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He departed this life on August 6, 2021, at the age of 71.
Leon was born on March 23, 1950, in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, to the late Laura Dell Dugas and Lionel Collins. While living in Donaldsonville, he accepted Christ at a very young age.
At the age of 16, Leon relocated to New Orleans. While there, he worked on the New Orleans Riverfront and as a truck driver and did landscaping work while married to the late Mary Ellen Bell of New Orleans.
After relocating to Baton Rouge in 1985, he was later married to Deborah Sanders. Leon and Deborah were subsequently blessed with Leon, Jr.
In Baton Rouge he worked as a truck driver, cement mason, and concrete finisher. He loved doing landscaping on the side.
Leon was affectionately known to family and friends as "Dookey," "Dookey Daddy,' and 'LD.' He loved to dance, "turn a corner," drink Heinekens, and spend time with his family and many friends. He had an incredible sense of humor. He never met a stranger, and everyone who has ever met him took an instant liking to him. Dookey was an extremely generous individual and a very proud man. He truly knew and loved the Lord, his family, and his friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Leon Jr. and Devin; his grandson: Carson; his devoted sisters: Lillian Weber of Marrero ; Annette Williams of Laplace; his brother: Willie Williams of San Diego, California; his devoted niece, Jessica Thomas-Albert (Andrew) of New Orleans; devoted nephews: Jarvis Weber (Ashley) of Marrero, and Levar Weber (Josie) of Gretna; nephews Willie Williams, Jr. (Betty), Clifford Williams (Kristen) of Ponchatoula; Jonathan Williams of Chicago, Illinois; nieces: Denisha Pines (Chris) and Nikisha Williams of Ponchatoula, and Ashley Williams of Houston, Texas; his exceptional friends, Robert Jones and Arnessa Lewis of Baton Rouge as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
