Linda Diane Gibson Stokes was born on December 11, 1949, in Tallulah, Louisiana to the late George and Gladys Gibson. She was baptized at St. Matthew AME Church in Tallulah, Louisiana.
Linda Diane was educated in Tallulah, Louisiana then later transferred to Holy Rosary Catholic School in Lafayette, Louisiana. She then attended and graduated from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA in Education.
She was later employed at the United Postal Service. Linda was also very active in two book clubs, she loves traveling and spending time with family.
Her passing leaves a void that will be tough to fill.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter & son-in-law, Tanya Gibson Morris & Charley Morris of Hoover, Alabama; her beloved ex-husband and caregiver, Henry Stokes; one sister, Jacqueline Cruz of Baker, Louisiana; one uncle, Richard Lewis of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Shayla Hampton (Aaron) of Denham Springs, Louisiana and Michael Morris of Birmingham, Alabama; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan Hampton and Ava Hampton. Linda Diane also leaves behind a loving extended family, including step-siblings: Leola Cooper, Don Watkins, Thomas Cooper, and Edna Cooper; sister and brother-in-love, Hattie and Robert Tapps of Oknawa, Japan; and Carolyn Holden Singleton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a host of nieces and nephews.
