Lionel leaves behind a rich legacy of love and faith. He is survived by his three devoted children: Keldric Emery (married to Katrina), Kedra Brown (married to Vontory), and Keithan Emery (married to Tara), all residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His family circle was further enriched by five beloved grandchildren: Omar Emery, Matthew Emery, Paris Emery, Irvin Sampson, and D'Marcus O'Dell. Lionel's extended family included dedicated sisters-in-law Joyce Rivers (married to James Rivers) and Gretchen Early, as well as his brother-in-law, Rev. Horace Early Jr. His vast family network of relatives, friends, and community members equally mourns his passing, holding dear the many memories they created together throughout the years.

Lionel Emery was preceded in death by his loving wife, Snowena Early Emery, as well as his parents, James and Jeanette Sterling Emery. He faced considerable loss with the passing of six sisters: Roberta Emery Nelson, Gloria Emery Givens, Florence Emery Sterling, Annie Emery Sterling, Mariah Emery McKinney, and Sophia Emery Washington, along with five brothers: Charles Wilson Emery, Valentine Emery Sr., Louis Emery Sr., Roosevelt Raymond Emery, and Robert Emery.
