Melanie Chanta' Brew, age 23, a native of Baton Rouge, La., was born on November 15, 1990. After battling cancer for over a year, she peacefully went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2014, at 3:30 am. Melanie was a cheerleader at Scotlandville Magnet High, as well as a 2008 graduate. After receiving her Cosmetologist license from Remington College, Melanie stepped into entrepreneurship and co-owned Couture Hair Studio in Hammond Aire Plaza. She had a passion for taking pictures, shopping, cheering and styling hair. Melanie is survived by her father, Mark C. Brew, mother & stepfather, Gladys Brew Scott & Apostle Mardia Scott, Jr., 2 stepsisters, D'Errah & Genesis Scott, grandmothers, Lois Brew and Elizabeth James. Final visitation will be Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Greater King David B.C., 222 Blount Rd., from 9-10:45am with services starting at 11am.
