Norris Sylvester Hatter Jr. passed away at Lafayette Physical Rehabilitation Facility in Lafayette, La. On Monday October 28, 2013. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Norris and Lena Hatter. He later came to live with his grandmother, Laura Taylor in Louisiana. He graduated from McKinley High School and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. He was a loyal and devoted spouse and father. He was employed as a Mixologist for over 40 years at Jack Sabin's Restaurant, as well as a custodian for the East Baton Rouge Parish School board. As a young man, He enjoyed playing in the band at Southern University as well as spending most of his time with family and friends as well as studying the Bible. He is survived by two children: his son, Norris Hatter III and his daughter Karen Hatter Mitchell as well as a daughter in law Ashley. His grandchildren are Nortel, Ashton, and Arian Hatter of Baton Rouge La, and Anthony, Briona Christina and Delana Mitchell of Lafayette, La.,: His siblings are Billy Hatter, Carrie Jean Adams, Patricia Nelson, Kevin Hatter, Kim Hatter and Joyce Hatter Thomas; Sister in laws Samatha Hatter, Mildred Russ, Yvonne Pate, Bobbie Dixon and two brother in laws, Richard Thomas and Carl Dixon, as well as a host of other family members, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his spouse Betty Sue Dixon Hatter, his son Keith Marcel Hatter, his mother Lena Williams Mckiethen, his grandmother Laura Taylor, his maternal grandfather Reverend A.D. Anderson Hatter and his brother Arthur Joseph Hatter.
