Mr. Norris “Jake” Washington Jr.

July 19, 1946 – April 28, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Norris Washington Jr. who departed this life on April 28, 2026, at the age of 79.

Norris, affectionately known as “Jake,” was born on July 19, 1946, in New Orleans, LA to Norris “Noisy” Washington Sr. and Blanche Holmes Dailey. He lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and a deep love for his family. Known for his easy-going spirit, kindness, wisdom and humor, Jake made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years - Estella Manuel Washington; his children - Norris Washington III (Chiquita) of Frisco, TX and Cedric Washington Sr. (Crystal) of Baton Rouge, LA; six grandchildren - Sanaia, Cedric Jr., Madisyn, Codie, Kassidy and Skylar Washington; one godchild - Jarred Hayes of Los Angeles, CA; six sisters and four brothers - Albert Veal, Jr. of Chicago, IL; Beverly Chapital of Slidell, LA; Linda Burns of Batchelor, LA; Elaine Long (Marshall) of Batchelor, LA; Donald Veal (Dorothy) of Thibodaux, LA; Bobby, Cassie and Abraham Dailey all of Batchelor, LA; Evie Joyce Dixon of Batchelor, LA; and Alicia Mulder (Stevie) of Zachary, LA; two aunts - Ellen Holmes and Lucille Mayes (Marvin) both of Houston, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris “Noisy” Washington Sr. and Blanche Holmes Dailey; adopted mother - Lucille Washington; stepbrother - Billy Daigre; maternal grandparents - David & Evie Holmes; adopted grandparents – Andy & Louise Murphy; aunts- Daisy Hicks, Eurolee Scott and Queen Holmes; uncles - Andrew, Willie, Matt, Larry and Samuel Holmes and a beloved sister - Wanda Faye Veal.

A viewing will be held on May 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Winnfield Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

Norris Washington Jr. (“Jake”)’s legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
