Robbie Darnell Collins was born on September 22, 1953 to the late Helen Collins Graves and Robert Harris in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Robbie grew up in South Baton Rouge. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age. Robbie graduated from McKinley Senior High School in 1972. He went on to study Drafting at CBM Business College. He was employed with the Louisiana Department of Transportation, Power Electrical Corporation in Houston, TX and MEL (Minority Engineers of Louisiana).
Robbie was an avid lover of sports and music, especially 70s R&B. He played multiple sports including baseball, basketball and football. Robbie was a very loving man who never met a stranger. He had a very kind, loving and humble spirit. To know him was to love him.
Throughout all the trials and tribulations he faced and overcame during his life he always maintained a positive attitude towards life and never gave up. He was the epitome of resiliency. Robbie had an exceptional memory and knew facts about just about anything. If you ever had a conversation with him you left learning something new. He also enjoyed laughing, telling jokes and playing chess, (especially with his nephew Stuart).
Robbie departed this life on the morning of Friday, May 21, 2021 at the age of 67 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Collins Graves, his father Robert Harris, Calvin Collins and Jessie L. Graves, and three brothers Willie Harris, Edmond Harris, Sr. and Woodrow Harris.
Robbie leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Lakesha Collins and three grandchildren James Squalls II, Jacob Squalls and Jaela Squalls all of Dallas, TX. His loving former wife Darlene Collins of Natchez, MS; two sisters Joslyn Collins of Baton Rouge, LA; and Keven (Cookie) Gaines of Baton Rouge, LA; two brothers Michael A. Collins (Patricia) of Baton Rouge, LA; and Calvin A. Collins III (Zelda) of Shreveport, LA; four nephews Stuart Collins (Diedre) of Zachary, LA; Jamie Kelly of El Paso, TX; Raphael Collins and Reginald Collins both of Baton Rouge, LA. Devoted friends Glenda Williams, Mr. Charles Anderson, Larry (Bo Lion) Clark, Joe Shavers, Rev. Levert Kemp, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends and relatives.
