Obituary Bishop Roscoe Roberson So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy… John 16 :22 Bishop Roscoe Roberson was born on February 16, 1928 in Greensburg, Louisiana to Ruben Roberson and Martha Coleman Roberson Believing at an early age that Christ was his personal Savior, young Roscoe confessed his hope and was baptized. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was employed by the Mississippi County Juvenile Probation System where he served as a Juvenile Probation Officer for 14 years. In March 1953 he joined the Israel Universal Divine Spiritual Church of Christ Organization under the leadership of Bishop E. J. Johnson. And was ordained as minister in August of 1956. While serving as a minister within the Israel Universal Divine Spiritual Church of Christ Roscoe relocated from Louisiana to Blytheville in September of 1961. He united with and pastored Jeremiah Spitiural Church in March of 1973 where he faithfully served as pastor for 12 years. While pastoring at Jeremiah Spiritual Church, plans were put into place to organize Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church. Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church was in an older building on Lake Street, but in 1993, Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church broke ground at a new location 1100 South Lake Street, with construction complete in July of 1994, Bishop Roberson, the church family, and the community marched into their new home. Bishop Roberson faithfully served Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church until December 7, 2017; the day that God called Bishop Roberson to his Heavenly Home. He was consecrated to the Office of Bishop by the Israel Universal Divine Spiritual Churches of Christ in July of 1984 and served as Overseer for the State of Arkansas, but most importantly, Bishop Roscoe Roberson preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ for more than 61 years. Bishop Roscoe Roberson was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Ruben and Martha Roberson, 5 brothers, Richard Robertson, Freddie Robertson, Willie Robertson, AJ Robertson and Emile Robertson. 4 sisters, Nellie Mae Muse, Lula Grimes, Peggy Hughes and Emma Robertson and 1 son Leroy Roberson. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Geraldine Robertson Johnson, 7 grandchildren, Leroy Robertson Jr, Krystal Nicole Robertson Lewis, Christopher Robertson, Robin Johnson Sims, Russel L. Johnson, Robert L. Johnson Jr., and Gerald R. Johnson. 7 great-grandchildren, Tyler Sims, Justice Sims, Rian Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Robert L. Johnson III, Rylee Nicole Johnson and Jaylen Johnson.
