Our beloved Rose Mary Price, affectionately known as “Rosie,” “Mo Rose,” and “Fox,” entered eternal peace on August 7, 2026, at the age of 73. A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Rose was born to William and Emma (Bridges) Thomas, who instilled in her a deep love for God. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was later baptized.

Rose was a proud graduate of Southern University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education in 1976. She served her community through various roles, including positions with the State of Louisiana, the Louisiana Legislature, and the Baton Rouge Food Stamp Office. She later found her calling as a secondary special education teacher, earning additional certifications from Louisiana State University. Before retiring, she served as Assistant Director/Administrator at Mason’s Academy, supporting staff, children, and families with dedication and grace.

A woman of many gifts, Rose was a talented seamstress who created and sold custom attire, and she enjoyed serving others as an independent Avon representative. Above all, she was deeply family-oriented—a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering faith touched everyone she encountered.

Rose leaves to cherish her biological children and step-children, David Price, Dongerel Price, Nedra (Dennis) Elmore, Shanita Price, Kyide (Tina) Thomas, Melvin (Terilyn) August, Terrance August, Kourtney Davenport, Kashira Shavers, Kelvin (Valencia) Shavers Sr., and Tarsheetka Shavers.

She is survived by siblings, Alvin Thomas, L.D. (Cecile) Thomas, Michael Thomas (Patricia), and Vanessa Thomas; Brother-in-laws, Joseph Price and Richmond (Willie Mae) Price; Sister-in-laws, Jennie (Bernard) Perry, Annie (Jerry) Shelby, Claudia Sterling, Nadine Towns, and Enola Williams (late Watson Williams Sr.); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Melvin Price, her parents, William and Emma Thomas, her step-daughter Charnitka Shavers, and her brothers Charles Thomas and William Thomas Jr.

Her life was a testament to endurance, faith, and love—an example of God’s sustaining grace.
