Roy Oby was born on 10/16/1950 in New Orleans , LA to Reuben Oby Sr. and Frances "Date" Lucas Oby.
Roy graduated in 1968 from McKinley High School. For those who knew him also knew where to find him on football season: at the Jaguars Stadium, he was a die hard fan of Southern Football team- he never missed a home game in 40 years.
He worked at Trinity Marine for many years achieving retirement. Then decided to go back to work at LSU retiring for the second time after 15 years .
He married Betty Joe Hatton on 6/15/1971. This June would have made 49 years of Wedded Bliss!!
He was a man of few words , soft spoken and didnt know how to say no to anyone who would call him asking for help.
He was a long term and very reliable member at Ark of Faith where he served as Deacon.
Roy leaves to cherish his memories : His wife , Betty Oby, three sons Darrell Oby (Deana), Frank Oby (Ana Paula) and Melkiah Hatton. Nine siblings:Mary Oby, Ruben "Chim" Oby JR (Debra), Ruby Matthews , John Oby, Frankie Oby, Ralph Oby (Ernestine), Shirley Straughter Margie Richard, Curtis Oby Sr (Shelia)
Seven grandchildren:Darrell J. Oby Sr., Lakeria Lomas (Quedarius), Terrell Oby, Da'Rieal Oby,Jaylin Williams, Jordan Oby and Caleb Oby and four great grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Reuben and Frances "Date" Oby, his beloved and only daughter Evelyn "Pookie" Oby and grandparents.
