Sandra Ann Jones Overby, affectionately known as “Granmoni,” peacefully transitioned on September 21, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 85. Born in New Orleans to Prince and Octavia Jones, she was raised in Baton Rouge and lived throughout Louisiana, Ohio, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

Sandra was a devoted woman of God, educator, and servant leader. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education, as well as a degree in theology, and served others as a teacher, professor, minister, elder, and Sunday school teacher. She faithfully served at Interdenominational Faith Assembly and Faith City International Ministries and was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Among her most treasured experiences were traveling to Israel twice and serving the Lord with all her heart.

God-fearing, intelligent, courageous, and sassy, Sandra loved gospel music, long walks, thrift shopping, Scrabble, and spending time with family and friends. Her loved ones will especially miss her familiar check-in voicemails and the little knee taps, toe taps, and joyful wiggle that appeared whenever gospel music warmed her soul. She taught her family to always trust in the Lord and take everything to Him in prayer.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Prince and Octavia Jones; her sisters, Terry Jones and Yvonne Bynum; and her beloved grandson, Robert Overby. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Leslie C. Overby-Allen; her loving granddaughter, Kylée Overby-Allen; her dear friends, Scarlett Walker and Prophetess Mary; and a host of church family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Winnfield Funeral Home, followed by her homegoing service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
