Sherwood Gaines was born November 25, 1952 in New Orleans, La and was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a loving and caring person. He attended Center Peace Ministries Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Sherwood was baptized at an early age at New Morning Star Baptist Church. He Married Shirley Gaines in June of 1974. On Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 12:15 pm, the Lord called one of his angels home. He passed away at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital He leaves to mourn his memories: His wife Shirley J. Gaines, his son Travis N. Gaines, his daughter Krystal N. Gaines, 3 sisters: Shirley P. Veals, Mae Etta G. Matthews and Annette G. Dunn; 7 grandchildren: ChaKyra Raby, BranToya Hardnett, Brandon Gaines, Brandi Tucker, Brooke Tucker, Braxton Tucker and Tydrick Paul; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Sherwood Gaines, Sr., his mother Lubertha W. Gaines, his son Brandon Gaines; 2 sisters: Cheryl F. Gaines and Leona M. Gaines; his nephew James Pierre, Jr.; 2 great nephews James Pierre, Sr. and Demerick Gaines.
