Obituary

Susie Marie Robins was born May 28, 1934. She was the first of twelve children born to the union of Franks Robins and Lillie Lee George Robins. She departed her earthly life on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Ollie Steele Burden manor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the golden age of 83. Susie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Clinton, Louisiana by Reverend W. H. Tobias. She graduated from East Feliciana Industrial Training School ( East High School) in Clinton, Louisiana. After relocating to Baton Rouge, she met and married William Netter on October 25, 1962. Susie became a member of Greater King David Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully until her health failed. Sister Netter was a seamstress, but also worked for Oak Manor Motor Hotel, the famous Hopper's Drive Inn, and a Dunn Hall (formerly Parker Dining Hall) at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a loving and caring person, a dedicated wife, a devoted mother, humorous, and full of laughter. Her friendly personality contributed to her never meeting a stranger. Susie was an avid television watcher~ Wheel of Fortune being one of her favorite shows. She had a passionate love for completing word search puzzles. She assisted in rearing many children and was a very strict disciplinarian. Memories of Sister Susie Netter will be cherished by five daughter, Debra Robins Pitts (Joseph) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lenora Robins Hughes (Roya) of Zachary, Louisiana, Joyce Robins Randolph of Victorville, California, Della Netter Perkins (David), and Regina Netter Thomas, both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one son Darryl Wayne Robins of Victorville, California; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Barbara Gray Hlmes (James) of Houston, Texas; one stepson, William N. Keller of Slaughter, Louisiana; four sisters, Betty Robins Turner of Zachary, Louisiana, Gloria Robins Knighten (Price) of Clinton, Louisiana, Bessie Robins Reuben of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Lovie Robins McElwee (Adolph) of Baker, Louisiana; two brothers, Ralph Robins (Sandra) of Lawton, Oklahoma and Walter Robins (Lena) of Detroit, Michigan; two aunts-in-law, juanita George and Beatrice "Dot" George; a devoted friend, Octavia Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Netter; one great grandson, Avery Roya Hughes; parents, Frank and Lillie Lee George Robins; maternal grandparents, York and Hattie Jones George; paternal grandparents, Willie and Fannie Morgan Robins; one stepdaughter, Vearis Marie Gray Grevious; one sister, Elizabeth Robins; five brother, Willie Robins, Sr., Frank Robins, Jr., Woodrow Robins, Alfred Robins, Sr., and Charley Robins; afoster sister-in-law, Gloria Washington; one sister-in-law, Ora Selders Robins; two brothers-in-law, Randolph Reuben and Joe Louis Turner; and three devoted and loving friends, Alice Rowe Scott, Louvenia Smith, and Mattie Fountain.
