Obituary

Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall not all sleep; but we shall be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Brother Vance Joseph Brady, Sr, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana was born on December 22, 1925 to the late Mr. Walter Brady and the late Mrs. Louise Commodore Brady. He was the youngest of his parents' five sons. He accepted the Lord and was baptized at an early age. He was educated by the New Orleans Public School System. After he completed his studies, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in World War II. After serving his country, he worked for the Witco Chemical Company in Gretna, Louisiana for many years and later retired from the company. Brother Brady was a devoted and caring husband to his wife, Mrs. Willie Anna Byrd-Brady, for over forty-five years. He was a caring father, and prayed for his children daily. He was never afraid to speak about the goodness of the Lord, and was always willing to share his wisdom of God's word. He was a true servant of the Lord. He served in many areas at the Nazarene Baptist Church in Brusly, Louisiana, under the leadership of the late Rev. Lawrence Philson, Sr. Bro. Brady was an ordained deacon and a devoted member of the choir. He loved to sing. He later joined the New Gideon Baptist Church, and was a devoted member until the Lord called him home. On February 5, 2018, while at the St. Joseph's Hospitals Carpenter's House, Bro. Brady laid down his earthly burdens and answered the call of his heavenly father. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Willie Anna Bryd Brady, three sons, Ronald Brady, Bernell (Annette) Brady, and Darryl Brady, one daughter, Nona Louise Basilio, one surrogate daughter, Candance Russell, one sister-in-law, Geraldine B. Moore, one God-child, Amari B. Russell, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Louise Brady, three sons, Vance Brady, Jr.,Quinton Brady and Lloyd Brady. Bro. Vance Joseph Brady Sr., was loved by many, but God loved him best. By the example that he set while on earth, it was apparent that he truly believed in the word of God that can be found in II Corinthians 4:17-18 (ESV) " For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen, but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."
