Obituary

Loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and teacher passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 1:30pm at Baylor University Medical Center Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was born on September 08, 1937 in Baton Rouge, LA to Eugene Augustus and Annie M. Williams Barron. Vera received her early education in the public schools of East Baton Rouge Parish. She graduated with the distinguished honor of valedictorian from Capital Avenue Junior/Senior High School in 1955. After deciding to pursue a teaching career she enrolled in Southern University and A&M College. While attending college, she served as freshman attendant to Miss Southern, and became a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Incorporated, Alpha Tau chapter. Vera graduated with an honors B.S. Degree in Mathematics in 1962. She later expanded her educational credentials to include a Master's Degree of Education from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio in 1977. Vera began her teaching career as a high school classroom teacher in 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio. After 26 years, she relocated to Natick, where she taught for three years. Later she again relocated to Boston Massachusetts Public School System where she taught at Boston Latin High School for twelve years until she retired in 2004. At an early age, she was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA. In 1957, Vera had her first child, Jody Ingrid Thurman. In 1962, Vera and Jody moved to Cleveland where Vera met and married Edward J. Wilson and they had one daughter, Schwann W. Chaddick. Vera's favorite pastime was watching sports on Television. Her joy was supporting all New England sports teams and rooting for tennis stars Serena & Venus Williams. When in contact with Vera, it was known that most likely you would receive a history lesson from her on a subject or a numerical calculation of some specific numbers relating to your life. Math was truly her passion. Vera is survived by a daughter, Schwann W. Chaddick of the The Colony, Texas; son-in law, DeEffridge Johnson, Mentor, Ohio; two granddaughters, Trinity Horton Hale (James) of Houston, Texas, Kayla J. Wilson of The Colony, Texas; two grandsons, Andrew Wilson, of The Colony, Texas; Jarek Chaddick, the Air Force; three great granddaughters, Emerysn N. Hale, Avery G. Hale, and Leah L. Shank; two sisters, Mamie Eames, Baton Rouge, LA, Gladys McGhee (Larry), Gilbert, AZ; one brother, Joseph B. Williams, Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
