Obituary

"For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (ESV) Sister Willie Anna Byrd Brady was born to the late Emma Dixon Morris and Willie Ruffin on January 29, 1932. She was one of seven siblings. She understood early that she needed to keep her hands in God's hands; so she accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Even though she was a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she spent many years in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was married to love of her life, Mr. Vance Joseph Brady for over forty years. She was a dedicated and loving wife. Sister Brady believed in working hard, and was committed to any job or task that was set before her. She worked as a surgical tech for the VA Medical Center in New Orleans for over 30 years until her retirement. After moving back to Baton Rouge, she joined the New Gideon Baptist Church family. Even though Sister Brady could not make it to Sunday morning worship because of her health, she never lost her fire for the Lord. In her weakest moments she still thanked God for his goodness and mercy. Her faith was unwavering. She cherished her family, and showered them with love and affection. She was a blessing to countless people, and had a very giving heart. She always concerned herself with the well-being of others. Sister Brady worked in the vineyard of the lord until October 22, 2018 when God took her into his loving arms and ushered her to her eternal reward.. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma Dixon Morris and Willie Ruffin; her husband, Vance Joseph Brady, Sr; two sisters, Emma Byrd and Henrietta Woods; four brothers, Issac Byrd, Jr., Emile Yarber, Wendell Morris and Wardell Morris. She leaves to celebrate her life, one brother, John Dangerfield, three sisters, Geradine Moore, Joyce Dangerfield Page and Carlette Dangerfield Camper; one-surrogate daughter, Candance Russell; one God-child, Amari B. Russell; 3 surrogate grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
