Eric Ray Pointer, Jr., was born June 26, 1986 to Eric Ray Pointer, Sr., and Paula Taylor. He was a lifelong resident of Brusly, Louisiana where he attended Brusly High School. Eric was a faithful member of Westgate Church; he was a member of the praise team and The Warriors Men’s Ministry. Eric was formerly employed at GBP Direct as a truck driver. Eric loved music and would always refer to himself as David Ruffin from the Temptations. He was affectionately called, “Smooth as Butter”, by one of his church members due to his style of clothing and his smooth walk.
Eric leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Paula Taylor; his father, Pastor Eric Ray Pointer, Sr. (Sherrel); grandmother, Patricia Scott; four sisters: Rachel Pointer, Essence Jones, Kimberly Pointer, and Yketa McFadden; one brother, Reuben Pointer; four aunts: Cassie Thomas, Karen (Aubrey) Carroll, Didrea (Alfred) Moore, Carla Williams; two uncles: Prince (Sharon) Pointer, Henry (Delbra) Pointer; five nieces: Jailyn Bennett, Kamyrn Lewis, Jor’dyn Pointer, D’Oviyonne Williams, Dariyonne Mansion; six nephews: Houston Bennett IV, Marvin Pointer, Gregory Lewis, Jr, Christian Lewis, Jeremy McFadden, Terrell Williams; a special friend, Taneia Smith and a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents: Vernell Parker, Prince and Lucille Pointer; and great-grandparents: Eola Bell and Clarence Scott; five uncles: Paul Scott, Clarence Scott, Richard Dent, James Ward, Willie Springer; one aunt, Ruby Scott, and brother-in-law, Desmond Jones.
