On Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 12:30 p.m., Florida H. White, a native of Washington and Melville Louisiana, passed away in her Baton Rouge home at 97 years of age with her family at her bedside. Florida was born on December 19, 1923, in Washington, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Jerry Hankins Sr and Arelia Hankins. She was the fifth born of seven children. She was the wife of the late Mansel White jr. She accepted Christ at an early age. She later moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and became a member of the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. David Newman Jr. where she served faithfully for many years. Her membership was recently moved to Second Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Robert London where she served until her health began to decline. Florida was a loving mother who loved all her family and friends.
She leaves to celebrate her life eight children: Diana Franklin (Gene), Delores White, Debra White, Lodie O’conner (Clarence), Kim Stanley, Darryl White, and Phillip White of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Doris White (Ray) of Houston Texas; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Florida was preceded in death by her husband Mansel White Jr, her parents, Jerry Hankins Sr, and Arelia Hankins, six siblings: Jerry Hankins Jr, Wilhelmina Simmons, Mckinley Hankins, Esther H. Haynes, Clara Burks, and Orelia H. Holmes; and seven children Bobby Jean Sanders, Anna Jacobs, Herman White, Lela Mae Washington, Donald Ray White, Herbert White, and Jacqueline White.
Religious service will be held at Winnfield Funeral Home on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
