Willie “Belle” Richard, known as Belle to many, was born to the union of Margaret Wolfe and Garrett Wolfe of Redlick, Mississippi on July 5, 1941. On February 22, 1964, Belle was united in Holy Matrimony to Rudolph Richard, Sr. The Richards were blessed with four beautiful children: Josephine, Paula, Caren and Rudolph Jr. (June). Belle adored her children and made many memories with them. Sunday dinner was always special for the Richard family.
Through the years, Rudolph and Belle’s children blessed them with grandchildren. Belle enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren: Roycha Richard, John Sherman, Jr., Jade Sherman, Kajkana Williams, Rudolph Richard, III, and Joseph Prince Richard. She truly enjoyed going to their tournaments, orchestra performances, athletic events, recitals and watching them profess their faith in song and play various instruments in church. Belle’s grandchildren blessed her with great grandchildren and she loved Ryleigh Noel Brandon and Layla Deanora Williams very much. When she could, she would spend as much time with them as possible and she would often share the funny things they say.
Belle was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she was a member for 57 years. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality and served as President for a number of years. Belle loved her church family and was active in working in the Food Pantry, The Lenten Fish Fries and working in The Sweet Shop for The Annual Bazaar. Belle worked as a housekeeper for 30 years and was an important part of rearing the children of the families she worked with. In 2014, Rudolph and Belle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at St. Paul by renewing their vows with their children and grandchildren.
On July 16th, Belle entered into eternal rest at Baton Rouge General with her family by her side. During her 80 years of life, Belle touched the lives of many people.
